Remember when ...

The sky was a blanket of stars at night?

Moonlight was the brightest light after sunset?

Strangers smiled and said hello to passers by?

Neighbors dropped by to chat on the front porch?

Outdoors had much more green than gray?

You could say hello to children walking to and from school without seeing fear in their eyes?

Rain smelled like something other than pavement?

When the sound of the wind and the songs of birds and crickets were louder than traffic?

You didn’t have to lock your doors?

Nature wasn't a park?

 Walking was to get somewhere?

There were more trees than people in town?

Outdoors smelled like grass and flowers and earth instead of exhaust?

You knew you were only one of many creatures with whom we share the Earth because you saw
so many of them everyday?

The sounds of mankind were dwarfed by the sounds of Nature?

Maybe you don’t remember. Few of us do, but most of us would like to.

Fortunately, it’s not too late! Not yet. They’re all still here. If we take the time to
listen and to look, we can find them … and  preserve them.

Nature can teach us to honor and live in harmony with our inner nature and the
      natural word around us.
