Discovering More Fulfilling Ways to Live and Work
Banner Art on Our Site

W
ildlife artist Peter Gullerud has been sharing his vision of Nature since the time he could hold a pencil. At the age of five years, he was already winning art contests. Self-taught, Gullerud went straight from a year of theological college to Disney Studios where he worked his way to the prestigious position of Visual Development Artist for feature films.

Later Peter worked for Warner Brothers before chucking the security of a paycheck to follow the siren's call of his own creative muse. He specializes in the wildlife of Southern California, where he lives in Pine Mountain Club in the Los Padres National Forest.

"I wanted to do my wildlife work but I wanted it to be authentic," Gullerud explains. "I had a few of choices. I could study exotic animals at zoos and circuses, I could move to Namibia, or I could hang out with the wildlife right here in Southern California in a habitat that was natural to them." Luckily, he had the opportunity to work with the Mountain Lion Foundation, helping to keep California's largest feline safe from the trophy hunters' sights.

His work has been described as an unusual mix of such artists as Munch, Van Gogh, Peter Max and the old tiki artists of the 50's and early 60's. Our Banner is from Van Gogh Forest. To see more of Peter's work visit his web site at www.painterofpaint.com or contact him by e-mail at petergullerud@aol.com
