Onsite Training Programs
in Understanding and Responding to Eco-Anxiety

"How can we not acquire the tools necessary for navigating the emotions of sorrow, despair, overwhelm, grief,
rage, terror, and ... depression [of the changes ahead]? What will give us meaning? What will console us? What
will allow us to keep going when any sense of purpose has eluded us?
  Carolyn Baker

Psychological and spiritual professionals in the US face an unprecedented demand as
the U.S. experiences the seismic transitions from the progressively worsening effects of
global warming, tightening competition for dwindling natural resources, and the resulting economic turmoil. For our local communities to respond creatively and effectively to these challenges, we will need an active, confident, competent, and creative citizenry, not an anxious, fearful, violent or demoralized one. We must be ready. We must to be able to:

·    Understand what is driving the transition that’s underway and why emotional and
psychic reactions to it are healthy and normal.

·   Recognize the psychological reactions people have as they wake-up to the many
ways the changes taking place impact their lives.

·   Be prepared to safely guide our clients through these stages.
·   Point them toward practical, constructive options for responding positively, both
personally and as members of their local communities.
·    Participate in organizing and participating in Transition Initiatives to create strong,
   resilient, sustainable local communities.
